You spoke, we listened.
Version 2 firmware is released today ahead of our new production run shipping at the end of January.
Check out the download section for the website for the firmware release itself.
Some of the highlights include:
Chord Mode. Play one finger chords over midi and stack chords polyphically.
Midi CC. Control many more parameters remotely using midi CC.
Imporved chord triggering. Play in new chords and trigger them instantaneously without voice stealing.
User adjustable micro-tuning. Now users can alter the tuning temperament to extreme values or none at all.
Extended reverb control. Decay time and Send amount can now be separated.
Pitch Envelope. Assign the envelope generator to oscillator pitch.
Here is the changelog in full:
Chord Select:
•Chord Select CV updates for approx 10 microseconds after the chord is triggered. This gives the chord selector enough time to detect the intended incoming voltage when the gate or trigger is detected (often they change at the same time if coming from a keyboard or sequencer).
•Voice management has been improved to allow the chord selector to detect chords over midi and play them back over cv gate instantaneously without notes being swallowed or stuck.
Chord Mode:
Poly Cinematic now features a chord mode that allows chords to be played back over midi by playing a single note, or several notes, with polyphony only limited by the number of free voices. To toggle between Chord Mode and Poly mode hold Shift and press Trigger for 3 seconds until it flashes and then release Trigger then release Shift.
Midi CC:
Many parameters and preferences can be adjusted using midi CC. Some feature below can be permanently stored after power cycle.
•Flip Tuning. Reverses the tuning functionality where the tune knob becomes fine tune by default and coarse tune when holding shift. Accessed and stored through midi CC.
•Dynamic Microtuning. Poly Cinematic's dynamic micro tuning feature can be user adjusted by holding Shift and turning Detune. User setting can be stored.
•Pitch Envelope. Oscillator pitch can be linked to the envelope by holding Shift and turning the Env Depth control.
•Reverb Decay. Reverb decay can be controlled separately by holding Shift and turning the Reverb knob. Turning Decay to zero invokes Auto decay, the default setting that increase reverb send with decay times. User setting can be stored.
See instruction manual for more details.
Bugfixes:
•Midi transport messages deleted stored chords. Fixed.
Glad we got there, thanks for being patient and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
That did the trick! Thank you. I'll try to post a demo later today.
I did not do that. I’ll sneak in a test between meetings. Thanks!
Did you factory reset the module after? Going from 2.01 to 2.02 won’t reset automatically. To reset, power up whilst holding down shift for 2 secs.
hi @Jason Mayo - I did not have any luck with 2.02. Any tips on debugging the issue? thanks.
that's amazing! Thanks for the quick fix. I'll try it after work. Thanks again.
V2.02 fix uploaded onto the website now. You may need to factory reset after. Apparently the cc disable function was permanently disabling the cc even after a reset, all good now.
Super excited about the new firmware. I did the upgrade but I’m not getting any responses to the cc messages. Is there an easy way to confirm the upgrade was successful? NVM. I was able to confirm the firmware updated by mapping the envelope to the pitch. But the cc message issue persists. I’ll try reinstalling the firmware incase cc messages were disabled my mistake.
