I have been trying to use waveslicer with a number of different source samples, but I must be doing something wrong, since I always get very 'clicky' wavetables that sound awful on the Pianophonic. I've tried sampling MI Rings green mode, with no modulation at all, which makes a very regular waveform. When I do step 1 of waveslicer, uploading a C1...C5 samples (one per octave, but I tried more or less too), the resulting wavetables always contain discontinuities, whatever settings I try. I don't mean the discontinuities at the wavetable (2048 sample) bounderies, but also somewhere in the middle. Also the hammer files are clicked: they never start at 0.
I attached one of the source and target files. In the attached wavetable, there is a click at sample 1209.
Anything I'm doing wrong? Is there another way to create wavetables from samples?
If there is a DC or sub octave component in the source sound this can create artefacts in the resulting wavetable. Or if the pitch has not been correctly estimated, which can often be the case on lower frequency sounds. If you havent already, you could try explicity typing the note values into the source file name and changing the pitch detection method to "From Filename". Also you could try setting the Preset template to "Synth" in Step 2.
Let me know how you get on.
